CHICKEN

Tomato variety Chicken is a medium-early indeterminate variety intended for cultivation in open ground, under plastic covers, as well as in greenhouses, on balconies and terraces. The plant requires staking and pruning, as well as regular pinching to ensure optimal growth and fruiting. Sowing for seedlings is recommended in March–April at a depth of 1–2 cm, with transplanting at the 2–3 true leaf stage. Seedlings are transplanted in April–May according to a planting scheme of 40x60 cm. At the end of the vegetative period, the growth point is pinched off, leaving 7–8 flower clusters for maximum yield. The fruits of tomato Chicken have a characteristic orange-yellow color and elongated plum-like shape, resembling chicks of laying hens, which is the origin of the variety's name. Each fruit weighs 100–120 g, is meaty, with 3–4 seed chambers, and has a very sweet and tasty flavor. Each flower cluster forms 7–8 bright, juicy fruits, ensuring stable and high yield. The variety is resistant to diseases and suitable for mechanical harvesting, simplifying the harvest process. Tomato Chicken is versatile in use: its fruits are excellent for fresh consumption, salad preparation, as well as for pickling, canning, and making tomato juice. Due to its flavor and meaty texture, this variety is popular among gardeners and home preservers.
