Tomato Amelioso

Stable Cherry Yield: The Advantages of the Amelioso Hybrid

For professional greenhouses, selecting a hybrid is always about finding the perfect balance between high productivity and pathogen resistance. Rijk Zwaan offers a robust solution in the cocktail tomato segment: Amelioso combines a compact fruit size with high cultivation efficiency.

Agronomic Profile and Protection

The main challenge in greenhouse tomato cultivation is the risk of viral and fungal diseases. Amelioso was designed by Rijk Zwaan breeders with modern phytosanitary requirements in mind. The hybrid demonstrates high resistance to:

• Tomato Brown Rugose Fruit Virus (ToBRFV) — a critical factor for modern commercial farms;
• Fusarium and Verticillium wilt complexes;
• Leaf mold and Mycosphaerella leaf spot.

This genetic "shield" allows growers to reduce the frequency of fungicide applications, lowering production costs and improving the sustainability of the harvest.

Practical Applications and Market Quality

Amelioso fruits, weighing 20–40 grams, perfectly meet the standards of retail chains that demand neat, bright red tomatoes for the "healthy snack" segment or culinary decoration. Thanks to their firm structure, the tomatoes withstand transportation well, maintaining excellent commercial appeal even after long-distance logistics.

In a farming environment, the variety is valued for its uniform ripening. This simplifies harvest planning, allowing agronomists to accurately predict labor costs for sorting and packaging. Amelioso is a reliable tool for farmers focused on consistently delivering high-quality commercial produce throughout the entire cropping cycle.
