Onion DENIS

Reliability in the Field: Why Professionals Choose the "Denis" Onion

In the segment of mid-season bulb onions, the "Denis" variety from "Heterozisnaya Selektsiya" (Heterosis Selection) stands out as a reliable and predictable tool for farming enterprises. Developed by breeders A. V. Aliluev and T. V. Shtainert, this onion is aimed primarily at the consumer market, where visual appeal and taste are the deciding factors.

Agronomic Features and Characteristics

"Denis" is a salad-type variety that fits perfectly into rotation-based growing schemes. With a maturation period of 90 to 100 days, it allows farmers to plan harvest before the onset of peak autumn rains, which is critical for maintaining bulb quality.

• Appearance: The bulbs have a perfect round shape, which simplifies mechanical sorting and packaging. The bright brown skin gives the product an attractive look on retail shelves.
• Internal Structure: Inside, the bulb has a clean white color, typical for high-quality salad-type hybrids. This makes it an excellent choice for the fresh market and culinary use.

Strengths and Considerations

The main strength of the variety is the balance between flavor and shelf life. As a salad-type onion, "Denis" possesses a milder, more pleasant taste, free from excessive pungency. This makes it a favorite for fresh consumption in salads. However, it should be noted that salad varieties typically require more careful handling during harvest and transport compared to tougher, storage-heavy varieties.

Who will benefit most from this variety? First and foremost, vegetable growers working with local markets and retail chains where consumers value juiciness as much as size. "Denis" is highly predictable in its cultivation; when standard irrigation and nutrition requirements are met, it consistently produces uniform bulbs that do not require complex preparation before sale.
