Kozak

Table beet variety Kozak is a late-maturing variety with a vegetation period of 170 to 175 days, intended for pickling and fresh consumption from September to February. The root crop has a cylindrical shape, dark red color, a diameter from 4 to 7 cm and a mass from 230 to 370 grams. The beet pulp is dark red, juicy, tender and sweet, without light rings, which ensures excellent taste qualities. The yield of the variety is from 3.2 to 5.8 kg per square meter, which makes it a high-yielding choice for cultivation.

Beet Kozak differs in high resistance to fusarium wilt, which increases its reliability during cultivation. It is recommended to grow on well-cultivated neutral or slightly acidic soils, avoiding sandy and waterlogged areas. Sowing seeds for seedlings is carried out from April 10, 40-45 days before transplanting into open ground, or directly into open ground under film in the period from April 20 to 25. Seedlings are transplanted by May 30 to a depth of up to the first true leaf, without burying the apical bud, with a distance between plants of 60×60 cm.

The Kozak variety is suitable for winter storage and processing, as well as for fresh consumption. Its root crops are easily removed from the soil due to their smooth shape and pointed tip. Due to their taste qualities and versatility of application, this variety is one of the best for pickling and home use.
