Atol F1 sweet corn is an early-maturing hybrid of super-sweet corn of the sh2+ type, developed based on Spanish breeding. The plant reaches a height of about 180 cm and forms large, cylindrical cobs measuring 22-24 cm in length and 4.5-5.5 cm in diameter. The cob features a very dense, dark green husk that well covers the tip, preventing bursting and maintaining quality during storage and transport. The kernels are rectangular in shape, rich dark yellow, juicy, and very sweet, without a starchy aftertaste, making this hybrid one of the best in the segment of early-maturing super-sweet corns.
The vegetative period of Atol corn ranges from 68 to 75 days, allowing for harvest in a short time. The hybrid is resistant to helminthosporiosis, increasing its reliability and reducing the risk of crop losses. Thanks to high yield and good transportability, the corn is suitable for both fresh consumption and processing. At a storage temperature of 18-20°C, the cobs maintain their taste qualities and freshness for at least two weeks.
For optimal growing, a sowing rate of 40-45 thousand seeds per hectare is recommended without irrigation and 50-70 thousand seeds per hectare with irrigation, which is particularly relevant for southern regions. This approach ensures powerful plant development and the formation of heavy, high-quality cobs, making Atol F1 a profitable choice for farmers focused on an early and high-quality harvest of sweet corn.
