Caramelka is an ultra-early hybrid of sweet corn of the Sh-2 type with a vegetative period of 59 to 65 days, which allows it to be grown in various climatic conditions, including open ground and film coverings. The plant reaches a height of about 130 cm and is distinguished by a powerful root system, which ensures reliable retention of the bush and stable nutrition even in the absence of regular watering. Flowering occurs on the 35-40th day of vegetation, and the ear length reaches 24 cm with a diameter of about 4.7 cm, which contributes to high yield - up to 24 tons of fresh ears per hectare.
One of the key features of Caramelka is its wide leaf surface, which is significantly wider than that of competitors. This allows the plant to efficiently accumulate sugar in the grains and form two full ears with proper feeding. Thanks to the dense and wide leaf apparatus, the plant has high heat tolerance and drought resistance, which makes the hybrid particularly valuable for growing in extreme conditions. In addition, Caramelka demonstrates resistance to the main corn diseases, such as fusarium, root rot, and rust.
The Caramelka hybrid is characterized by high adaptability and ease of care. Its relatively low height allows for mechanized treatment with insecticides, which facilitates agronomic operations. Thanks to early ripening, the crop can be grown in two, and in southern regions - even in three rotations per season, which significantly increases the efficiency of land use. It is recommended to combine growing Caramelka with other hybrids of the May Seed company to create a planned harvest conveyor and obtain a stable yield throughout the entire warm season.
