Sunflower Visit

Serbian breeding for reliable yields

The 'Vizit' sunflower, developed by the renowned IFVCNS (Novi Sad) institute, is a classic variety that has proven its reliability across Eastern European fields for decades. In an era dominated by intensive hybrids, 'Vizit' remains the choice for pragmatic farmers who prioritize predictability and economic independence.

Why choose the 'Vizit' variety?

• Economic Independence: Unlike hybrids, seeds from this variety can be used for sowing in the following season, significantly reducing annual seed procurement costs.
• Adaptability: The variety demonstrates exceptional resistance to climatic stressors. It handles drought conditions better than many 'intensive' competitors, which is crucial for arid farming regions.
• Stability: You receive predictable results even with minimal agro-technological investments. 'Vizit' is forgiving of minor lapses in crop protection that would be catastrophic for high-cost imported hybrids.

Strengths and Weaknesses

The primary advantage of 'Vizit' is its low maintenance. It is a workhorse that performs efficiently under extensive and semi-intensive nutritional regimes. Its high initial growth energy allows the crop to quickly close the canopy, suppressing weed development without the need for intensive herbicide programs.

However, it is important to note that the yield potential of this variety is lower than that of modern, state-of-the-art intensive hybrids. This is not the choice for those chasing record-breaking yields through maximum fertilizer input; rather, it is a tool for those seeking stable margins per hectare with moderate, controlled investments.

Who is this choice for?

'Vizit' is ideal for farms operating in high-risk agricultural zones. It has proven itself as a crop with high ecological plasticity—while other varieties may succumb to heat stress, 'Vizit' continues to develop a full, healthy head.
