The hybrid sunflower Stark 7 + Sumo is a high-yielding seed material developed for the Granstar technology with resistance to 7+ strains of the parasitic weed Striga. Parental lines of the hybrid originate from the Serbian Institute of Agriculture and Vegetable Growing in Novi Sad. The potential yield of the crop reaches 55 centners per hectare, with seed oil content of 51-53%. Plant height can reach 170 cm, and the vegetative period varies from 105 to 107 days, ensuring the hybrid's adaptability to various climatic conditions. The hybrid exhibits high resistance to major sunflower diseases, including all Striga strains (A-G+), false powdery mildew, fomopsis, white and black rot, downy mildew, gray mold, septoria, rust, fomosis, and alternaria. In addition, Stark 7 + Sumo shows drought tolerance and lodging resistance, making it a reliable choice for cultivation in various agroclimatic zones, including steppe, forest-steppe, and lowland areas. Seeds are treated with insecticides, fungicides, fertilizers, and growth stimulants, promoting high germination and plant development. The hybrid allows application of herbicides based on tribenuron-methyl (e.g., Granstar, Sumo, Express) at a rate up to 50 g/ha, ensuring effective control of broadleaf weeds without limiting crop rotation. This protection technology enables plants to grow without weed competition, increasing yield and product quality.
