Variety distinguishing features. Variety — ukrainica. Plants of medium height (75-85 cm), semi-compact form with thick central stem. Pubescence light-red, flowers purple with pink tint, seeds spherical, light-yellow, hilum dark-brown with eye, 1000 seed mass — 150-160 g.
Biological characteristics. Early-maturing variety, vegetation period duration 90-100 days, high drought resistance, resistant to lodging (8.0-9.0 points), seed shattering (8.0-9.0 points), pathogens and pests (8.0 points), suitable for mechanical harvesting.
Agronomic characteristics. Recommended seeding rate 0.6-0.7 million germinating seeds per hectare. Sowing method — conventional row or wide-row (row spacing 45 cm). Agronomic practices — standard for the growing zone.
In the variety trial of the Institute of Plant Growing named after V. Ya. Yuryev (1992-1994), the variety yielded 2.4 t/ha. In production conditions in 1993-1996 (Kharkiv region) yield was 2.3-2.5 t/ha, in 2005 — 3.2 t/ha, in 2011 — 3.3 t/ha. In 2011 in Kherson region (Institute of Irrigated Agriculture) under irrigation yield was 2.91 t/ha, in 2012 — 3.16 t/ha. In Sumy region (Institute of Agriculture of the North-East) in 2012, the variety formed yield at 2.14 t/ha. Potential yield 3.5-3.7 t/ha, protein content in seeds — 39-40%, oil — 21-22%.
