Sunflower Smak

A Strategic Choice for the Confectionery Sector

The 'Smak' sunflower variety, developed by the Institute of Oilseed Crops of NAAS, is designed for farms targeting the premium confectionery market. Its main value lies in its large-seed potential and high adaptability to Ukrainian farming conditions, making it a reliable asset for agricultural producers.

Agronomic Profile and Seed Quality

Unlike hybrids, 'Smak' is a distinct variety, allowing farmers to maintain and reproduce seeds within their own operations without compromising quality. The seeds are characterized by a distinct grey-striped pattern, which is highly valued by processors in the snack and roasted seed industry.

Practical Applications in Farming

• Snack Industry Supply: The variety meets the technical requirements of companies specializing in roasting and packaging, thanks to its appearance and high kernel yield.
• Cost Efficiency: Utilizing Ukrainian-bred seeds reduces dependency on expensive imported inputs, allowing for better control over production costs while maintaining yield stability.
• Optimized Management: The variety performs consistently under standard agricultural practices commonly used in the Steppe and Forest-Steppe zones, simplifying the workload for agronomists who prefer stable, classic farming techniques over high-input intensive management.

Choosing 'Smak' is a pragmatic decision for agricultural businesses aiming for a predictable harvest that meets commercial standards for food production. It represents a commitment to reliable, time-tested domestic genetics that reduce the need for the excessive chemical protection often required by high-maintenance foreign hybrids.
