Sunflower SA 970 A X SA 944 B

A technological solution for challenging fields

The sunflower hybrid SA 970 A X SA 944 B from Nuseed Europe is a tool for those accustomed to full control over their crops. Its primary value lies in its compatibility with the Clearfield (Euro-Lightning) production system. For an agronomist, this means the ability to achieve radical control over problematic weeds (including all races of broomrape) without the risk of damaging the crop.

Field application scenarios

This hybrid is tailored for intensive farming operations where weed infestation is a major concern. Utilizing the SA 970 A X SA 944 B hybrid allows you to:

• Optimize mechanical cultivation costs: chemical weed control handles the bulk of the work, reducing the number of field passes.
• Operate in fields with high disease pressure: Nuseed's genetics ensure stability where other hybrids would require complex fungicide applications.
• Achieve uniform height and ripening, which is critical for minimizing losses during harvesting.

Being a simple hybrid, it possesses high early-stage vigor. In real-world conditions, this provides a competitive advantage through rapid canopy closure, which further suppresses weeds by naturally shading the soil.

Practical advice

When sowing, consider the hybrid's strong response to soil fertility. Applying starter fertilizers in-row fully unlocks its yield potential. Given its resistance to imidazolinone herbicides, it is vital to follow application protocols to avoid phytotoxicity and allow the plant to direct all resources toward head development rather than stress recovery.
