Sunflower variety Prometheus is a fast-maturing, high-yielding variety recommended for cultivation in southern regions of Ukraine, as well as in forest-steppe and steppe zones. The vegetation period of this variety is up to 95 days, allowing harvest within relatively short timeframes. Prometheus is distinguished by high drought resistance, making it a reliable choice for regions with variable climatic conditions. Additionally, the variety is resistant to major sunflower diseases, including downy mildew, false powdery mildew, and rust, and also exhibits moderate resistance to rot.
Prometheus sunflower plants reach a height of 140 to 160 cm, with flower head diameter ranging between 18-22 cm. The weight of 1000 seeds is 65 to 70 grams, indicating the variety’s large seed size. Oil content in the seeds is at the level of 50-52%, ensuring high efficiency in oil production. Yield is stable and averages 2.5-2.7 tons per hectare, with potential yield reaching up to 3.8 tons per hectare. The variety also features low seed shattering during ripening, facilitating harvest and reducing yield losses.
For optimal cultivation, recommended plant density is 45-50 thousand plants per hectare. Due to its combination of fast maturation, resistance to adverse factors, and high yield performance, sunflower variety Prometheus is a profitable choice for farmers aiming to achieve stable and high-quality yields in southern Ukraine and forest-steppe zones.
