Sunflower Panco

Stable Results Under Stress

The «Pancho» sunflower hybrid by VNIS is a prime example of modern Ukrainian breeding, designed for farms seeking the ideal balance between early maturity and yield potential. Developed by a team of scientists led by Maryna Kyrychenko and Myroslav Parii, this hybrid is specifically tailored to the challenging climatic conditions of the Ukrainian steppe and forest-steppe zones.

Agronomic Potential and Disease Resistance

With a vegetation period of 100 to 110 days, «Pancho» is classified as an early-maturing hybrid. This allows farmers to effectively manage crop rotation and harvest before the arrival of unpredictable autumn weather. The main advantage of this hybrid lies in its genetic resistance to the most destructive sunflower pathogens:

• Verticillium wilt and Sclerotinia;
• Sunflower rust;
• Phomopsis.

This level of protection reduces the pesticide burden on fields and cuts costs associated with fungicide applications, which is essential for optimizing the production cost of grain. «Pancho» demonstrates stable development even under extensive cultivation technologies, making it a preferred choice for farms working with limited budgets for intensive plant protection products.

Why Choose VNIS Genetics

In a market saturated with international hybrids, «Pancho» stands out as a locally adapted solution. The originator, the Ukrainian Scientific Institute of Plant Breeding (VNIS), focused on high initial growth energy, which enables the plant to close the rows faster and suppress weeds naturally. It is a reliable agricultural asset that has proven its effectiveness in demonstration plots and industrial-scale sowing, ensuring predictable yield results when standard agronomic practices are followed.
