Sunflower Arden

Optimized Productivity with Clearfield Technology

The «Arden» sunflower hybrid by Grand Semens is a robust solution for farmers focused on predictable yields in demanding phytosanitary conditions. The core advantage of this hybrid is its genetic resistance to imidazolinone herbicides, commonly known as the «Euro-Lightning» technology. This enables agronomists to effectively manage the entire spectrum of weeds and broomrape without relying on heavy inter-row cultivation.

Agronomic Strengths and Plant Health

With a vegetation period of 100-110 days, «Arden» is classified as a mid-early hybrid, providing excellent flexibility for crop rotation planning. The plant shows high field resilience against pathogens that typically impact yield quality:

• Root and Stem Infections: Reliable protection against white and gray rot.
• Foliar Diseases: Strong immunity to downy mildew and powdery mildew.
• Specific Threats: Effective resistance to phomopsis and phoma, essential for regions with humid climates.

Practical Application in Field Operations

«Arden» is particularly recommended for fields with high weed pressure where traditional chemical protection is insufficient. By applying the herbicide at the 2-4 true leaf stage, the crop gains a head start, free from competition for moisture and nutrients. Developed through the expertise of the V.Ya. Yuriev Institute of Plant Production and its partners, this hybrid is built to thrive under stress. It reliably translates its genetic potential into harvest in fields where more sensitive varieties would succumb to disease or weed competition.
