Sunflower MAS 96A is a medium-maturing hybrid of linoleic type with a vegetation period ranging from 111 to 118 days. Plants are characterized by high stature and flat head shape with a slanted orientation. The hybrid features medium-late flowering and initial growth level 6, which ensures good development under various soil-climatic conditions, including the Polissia and Forest-steppe regions of Ukraine. Recommended planting density is 60-65 thousand plants per hectare, with optimal sowing depth of 8-10 cm at soil temperature of 10-12 degrees. MAS 96A has high yield potential, reaching up to 46.8 centners per hectare, and high oil content in seeds — from 44 to 49%. Thousand-seed weight varies within 52-65 grams. Seeds are supplied in packages of 150,000 units, sufficient for sowing on 2.2-2.5 hectares. For protection of sown material, it is recommended to use seed treatments such as Cruiser, as well as AGROSTART and PONCHO D150, which improve germination and plant resistance. Hybrid MAS 96A exhibits high resistance to seven races of downy mildew (A-G), as well as tolerance to major sunflower diseases, including head and stem rot, powdery mildew, frogeye leaf spot, and sclerotinia. Additionally, the plant is resistant to lodging and well-tolerates water deficit, making it a reliable choice for extensive cultivation. Thanks to its excellent phytosanitary status and adaptability to various processing technologies, MAS 96A is an effective and productive hybrid suitable for cultivation in various regions of Ukraine.
