Sunflower MAS 84E

Working with MAS 84E

When planning a planting season, the main goal is always stability. The French genetics from Maisadour Semences, specifically the MAS 84E hybrid, provides that rare balance of predictability and performance.

Agronomic Observations and Handling

The first thing you notice with MAS 84E is the seed quality. The seeds are small and narrow-oval in shape, with a characteristic black color. From an operational standpoint, this makes calibration for modern seeders much easier. Flowability is excellent, minimizing the risk of gaps during planting. The flattened, medium-to-small head size is another practical advantage—it prevents stalk lodging and ensures the crop dries down evenly, which is a massive help during the harvest window.

Disease Resistance and Oil Yield

The standout feature of MAS 84E is its resilience against common pathogens. During seasons with high humidity, when other hybrids might struggle with Phomopsis, powdery mildew, or rust, MAS 84E maintains a strong immune system. This allows for a more efficient fungicide program. Regarding output, the oil content (ranging between 45-50%) is exactly what processors look for, ensuring good marketability and minimal drying costs after harvesting.

• Operational Efficiency: High flowability of seeds ensures precise planting.
• Disease Control: Strong genetic resistance to rust, Phomopsis, and powdery mildew.
• Reliability: Consistent oil content and head structure for easy harvesting.

Working with this hybrid is straightforward; it doesn't demand excessive attention, letting you focus on other field operations. If you are looking for a reliable, French-bred sunflower that performs well under standard agronomic practices, MAS 84E is a proven performer that consistently justifies the investment.
