MAS 83 R is an early-maturing, high-yielding sunflower hybrid of the linoleic type, distinguished by its stability and plasticity. The vegetation period is 95-100 days, ensuring early flowering and timely maturation. The plants have medium height with a convex head shape located at a semi-downward angle. The 1000-seed mass ranges from 46 to 50 grams, while oil content reaches 53-55%, making this hybrid attractive for the production of oilseed products.
The MAS 83 R hybrid possesses high adaptability to various soil and climatic conditions, allowing for successful cultivation in Forest-Steppe and Steppe zones. It is well pollinated by insects, contributing to stable yields with a potential up to 50 centners per hectare. Special attention is given to stress resistance: the hybrid demonstrates high drought tolerance as well as lodging resistance, ensuring crop preservation under unfavorable conditions.
MAS 83 R is tolerant to the main sunflower diseases, including sunflower downy mildew (race E), white mold (race RM7), phoma, stem rot, and head rot. The level of resistance to these diseases is rated at 7-8 points on a 10-point scale, significantly reducing the risk of yield loss. The recommended planting density depends on soil moisture: in zones with sufficient moisture — 60-65 thousand plants per hectare, under conditions of insufficient moisture — about 55 thousand plants per hectare.
