MAHAON 40 is a sunflower hybrid combining early and mid-season types, featuring high productivity potential. Plants reach a height of 160–170 cm, exhibit good leaf coverage, and have large heads. Leaves are large and heart-shaped, green in color without anthocyanin pigmentation, while the stem is heavily hairy at the top. Seeds are oval-elongated with a primary black coloration. At maturity, the head hangs from a vertical position to being half-turned downwards.
The hybrid is distinguished by its high yield, which averages 20.3 c/ha across various regions, but can reach up to 30 c/ha or more with improved agronomy and optimal plant density. Oil content in the seeds varies from 45.7% to 51%, ensuring high-quality products. MAHAON 40 is resistant to the herbicide EURO-LIGHTNING®PLUS, facilitating weed control and enhancing cultivation efficiency.
Hybrid seeds are suitable for cultivation in various regions, including the Central Black Earth, North Caucasus, Middle Volga, Lower Volga, Ural, and West Siberia. The hybrid adapts well to minimum and zero technologies of cultivation. Despite high resistance to diseases, a moderate level of infection by downy mildew and a strong susceptibility to gray mold are noted, requiring attention during agronomic activities. Overall, MAHAON 40 is a reliable choice for farmers seeking high yields of quality sunflower.
