Krupnyak is a high-yield confectionery-type sunflower variety, characterized by its early maturity: it takes 60-65 days from germination to harvest readiness. Plants reach heights up to 2 meters, bearing slightly convex heads 25-30 cm in diameter, sometimes up to 40 cm. Seeds are large, well-formed, with a 1000-seed mass exceeding 100 grams and reaching up to 150 grams. Kernels have excellent taste and contain reduced levels of saturated fatty acids (30-35%), which helps lower blood cholesterol levels. Meanwhile, protein content is 3-4% higher than in standard oilseed varieties. Additionally, the plant is a good nectar source and possesses high decorative qualities. The variety is adapted to stress conditions and exhibits high drought resistance. It does not branch, and seeds have an egg-shaped form with a black base color and distinct gray stripes. The mass fraction of pure kernel varies from 51.1 to 59.4%, and the shatter coefficient ranges from 0.83 to 0.90. Yield has been confirmed through trials in various regions, reaching 26 to 42.1 centners per hectare. Oil content and oil yield are at or above standard levels, with seed fat content around 47%, exceeding the standard by 2.1%. Oil yield reaches 7.4 centners per hectare, also above the norm. Krupnyak is suitable for cultivation in various regions, including the Central Black Soil, North Caucasus, Middle Volga, and Lower Volga regions. Thanks to its large seed size and high quality characteristics, the variety is widely used for producing confectionery and oilseed crops. It is well-suited for cultivation in both gardens and fields, providing a stable and high-quality yield.
