Sunflower variety Katerina is a medium-late hybrid of olive type with a vegetation period ranging from 110 to 126 days, depending on the growing region. This hybrid was registered in the State Register of Varieties of Ukraine since 2018 and is intended for cultivation under various climatic conditions, both by classical and intensive technologies. Plants reach a height of 150-160 cm, are non-branching, and the flower head diameter is 22-24 cm. The weight of 1000 seeds varies from 52.9 to 65 g, indicating large and uniform seeds.
Variety Katerina exhibits high resistance to major sunflower diseases, including white mold, fomoz, fomopsis, rust, as well as to powdery mildew and various types of water mold (A-E). The hybrid is genetically resistant to herbicides of the imidazolin group (Euro-Lighting), enabling effective weed control without harming the crop. Additionally, the seeds have a high oil content — from 49 to 50% — ensuring a yield potential of 30-50 centners per hectare depending on growing conditions.
Sunflower Katerina is recommended for sowing on well-prepared soils with compliance to agronomic requirements. Due to its disease resistance and adaptability to various weather conditions, this hybrid ensures a stable and high yield. High oil content and large seeds make it attractive for producers targeting high-quality raw material for processing.
