Sunflower EC Besana — a three-line hybrid selection by Euralis Semences, designed for cultivation in various climatic zones of Ukraine. The vegetative period is 106 days, allowing the hybrid to successfully adapt both in the northern and southern regions of the country. The plant is medium-height, with a stem height ranging from 168 to 188 cm, a strong root system, and medium stem thickness. The sunflower head reaches 22 cm in diameter, contributing to high yield.
The hybrid exhibits high resistance to stress factors and diseases. It possesses genetic resistance to biotypes of the Russian thistle (charlock) from A to G, which is particularly important for regions with aggressive infestation by this parasite. Additionally, EC Besana shows high tolerance to Phomopsis, Phomoid, and sclerotinia affecting both the head and stem. Stress resistance is rated at 8 points, lodging resistance at 7 points, ensuring stable yield even under adverse conditions.
Sunflower EC Besana is characterized by high yield potential — up to 5.8 tons per hectare, equivalent to 58 centners per hectare. Actual yields vary depending on region and growing conditions: from 23-28 centners per hectare in the Steppe zone to 31-36 centners per hectare in the Zhytomyr, Chernihiv, and Khmelnytskyi regions. Seed oil content is 51-53%, making this hybrid attractive for high-quality oil production. For successful cultivation, it is recommended to apply quality soil herbicides during early growth stages, before the 2-4 leaf stage, promoting vigorous plant growth and development.
