Celestis HO CLP, a sunflower hybrid from SAATEN UNION Romania, enters the Ukrainian market in 2025 as a high-performance F1 hybrid. To maximize its genetic potential, growers must adhere to specific agronomic practices tailored for intensive cultivation.

Sowing and Plant Density

Sowing should commence when soil temperatures reach +10...+12°C. Optimal plant density at harvest is determined by local moisture availability:

• High-moisture regions: 55,000–60,000 plants per hectare.
• Arid regions: 45,000–50,000 plants per hectare.

Proper spacing is essential to minimize competition for light and nutrients, ensuring uniform head development and oil content.

Soil Requirements and Crop Care

This hybrid thrives in fertile, neutral-pH soils. It is highly responsive to nitrogen and phosphorus fertilization. Micronutrient management, particularly boron application during the 4–6 leaf stage, is critical for proper flower development and seed set.

Key developmental phases and care:

• Seedling to 4-leaf stage: Focus on early weed control and ensuring uniform emergence.
• 4–8 leaf stage: This is the optimal window for Clearfield Plus (CLP) herbicide application. This system provides robust control over broadleaf weeds and broomrape (Orobanche cumana).
• Budding to Flowering: Water management is paramount. While the hybrid exhibits strong drought tolerance, moisture stress during this phase can significantly impact the 1000-seed weight.

Preventative fungicide applications during the "star" stage are recommended to mitigate the risk of phomopsis and alternaria, ensuring the crop reaches its full yield potential.
