Common sunflower Sergeant F1

Consistent performance in the field

When working with the "Serzan F1" hybrid from the Serbian IFVCNS (Novi Sad) institute, you quickly realize the difference between a high-maintenance crop and a reliable workhorse. This sunflower behaves predictably throughout the season, which is exactly what a farm manager needs during the busy summer months.

Operating with this hybrid is straightforward. The 100-110 day vegetation period allows for precise harvesting schedules. With a plant height of 160-170 cm, the crop is perfectly suited for modern combine headers, ensuring minimal header loss and clean harvesting sessions even in windy conditions.

Disease resistance and oil quality

The primary concern for any operator is crop health. The Serbian breeding program truly shines here, offering robust resistance to Phomopsis and various rots. This resilience allows for reduced fungicide applications, effectively lowering the cost per ton of production without sacrificing yield quality.

• Oil Content: A solid 45-50%, ensuring good market demand and profit margins.
• Seed Quality: Large, dark black seeds with a narrow-ovate shape. They flow perfectly through pneumatic seeders without clogging or mechanical damage.
• Crop Biology: A simple hybrid that adapts well to various soil types, requiring standard agronomic inputs rather than exotic care.

In practice, Serzan F1 is a forgiving hybrid. It maintains structural integrity even under moisture stress, providing a clean and high-quality harvest that is easy to store and transport.
