BITYUG

Bityug is a high-oil and early-maturing sunflower variety intended for the confectionery industry. The vegetative period from germination to physiological maturity is 86-96 days, allowing for early sowing and quick harvest. The plant is medium-height, 150-180 cm, without branching, with a medium-sized head turned downwards. Seeds are large, wide oval, black in color with a characteristic stripe along the edge, making them attractive for processing and consumption.

The variety is characterized by high yield and quality seed parameters. The average weight of 1000 seeds ranges from 95 to 110 g, while the clean kernel recovery varies from 57 to 66%. The oil content of the seeds is 48-49%, while the protein content is high — 21-22%. The shatter coefficient is within the range of 0.95-0.99, indicating high quality and ease of processing. The yield of calibrated seeds on sieves with a mesh size of 38.5 mm reaches 65-70%, confirming the large-seeded nature of the variety.

Bityug is resistant to major pests and diseases, such as sunflower borer and dodder, and, due to early harvest dates, significantly reduces the risk of sclerotinia and gray mold infections. The variety has abundant nectar productivity, making it a good honey plant. The optimal plant density is 55-60 thousand per hectare, which promotes maximum area utilization and increased yield. Due to its characteristics and adaptability, Bityug is successfully grown in the Central Black Earth and Ural regions.
