Arcona

Arcona is a high-yielding sunflower hybrid developed by the Serbian Institute of Field Crop Research NS SEME in Novi Sad. It belongs to the early-maturing varieties with a maturity period of 104-107 days and has a yield potential of up to 6 tons per hectare. The seeds are large and black, available in standard and extra fractions, treated with innovative products including fungicides, microfertilizers, and growth stimulators, which enhance germination and plant resistance.

The Arcona hybrid is specifically designed for the Sumo cultivation technology and exhibits high resistance to major sunflower diseases, particularly downy mildew (5 races), false powdery mildew, as well as high drought tolerance. It is well-adapted to various climatic conditions and is recommended for cultivation in central, western, and eastern regions of Ukraine. The recommended planting density varies depending on soil moisture: 60-70 thousand plants per hectare under adequate moisture and 45-50 thousand in dry conditions.

Arcona also features high resistance to lodging and shattering, facilitating harvest and reducing losses. The hybrid permits a single application of the herbicide Granstar (Express) at a rate up to 50 g/ha for effective control of broadleaf weeds. This combination of features makes Arcona a reliable choice for farmers aiming to achieve high-quality sunflower yields.
