Arlette sunflower is a three-line, high-yielding hybrid developed by "AlfaSmartAgro" under license from PANAM Semences (France). This mid-early hybrid with a vegetation period of about 110 days is intended for cultivation using Clearfield® technology with the herbicide "Evrolighting". Plants reach a height of up to 175 cm, and the diameter of the formed head reaches up to 24 cm. The 1000-seed mass is 70 g, and oil content reaches 54%, making the hybrid high-oil and suitable for vegetable oil production.
The Arlette hybrid is characterized by rapid seedling growth and a strong root system, which ensures good adaptation and resistance to various stress factors, such as cold, drought, and other adverse conditions. It also exhibits high resistance to lodging and a broad spectrum of diseases, including fomopsis, fomosis, rust, sclerotinia, and peronosporosis, as well as resistance to five strains of downy mildew (downy mildew). These qualities contribute to stable and high yields, which under optimal conditions can reach 57-59 centners per hectare.
Recommendations for growing the hybrid include thorough pre-sowing soil preparation and adherence to optimal seeding density depending on the natural-climatic zone: in steppe regions, 55-60 thousand plants per hectare are recommended, in forest-steppe zones — 65-70 thousand, and in northern regions (Polesie) — 75-80 thousand. Due to its versatility and adaptability, Arlette is successfully grown in almost all natural-climatic zones of Ukraine, demonstrating particularly high results in forest-steppe and steppe zones.
