Sugar beet SMART KALLEDONIA KWS

A technological breakthrough in crop protection

The Conviso Smart system from KWS has revolutionized sugar beet cultivation, and Smart Caledonia KWS is one of the most balanced representatives of this generation. Unlike traditional hybrids, this variety allows for the use of a highly specialized herbicide, which radically simplifies weed control without stressing the crop itself.

Agronomic profile and yield

This hybrid belongs to the “normal” (N) type, making it a versatile solution for farms with varying levels of soil fertility. Medium-sized root crops combined with a high potential for sugar accumulation (16–17%) ensure a stable output of the final product even under fluctuating weather conditions.

Crop health as the foundation of profit

The key advantage of Smart Caledonia KWS is its comprehensive resistance to pathogens that often cause yield losses:

• High tolerance threshold for Cercospora leaf spot and powdery mildew;
• Reliable protection against Fusarium and other types of rot;
• Genetically ingrained resistance to common scab.

Who is this hybrid for? First and foremost, for farmers looking to reduce the herbicide load on the soil and optimize plant protection costs without sacrificing raw material quality. Smart Caledonia KWS is forgiving of minor management errors but requires adherence to the technology of the proprietary Smart system herbicides.
