Sunflower MUSICAL

French breeding for stable yields

The «Musical» sunflower hybrid from the French company Laboulet Semences represents a refined European approach to agrotechnology, prioritizing the balance between genetic potential and disease resistance. Developed by original breeders Laboulet Semences and Veronigue Tramcourt, this simple hybrid has established itself over years on the market as a reliable choice for farmers operating in temperate climate zones.

Agronomic Profile

«Musical» belongs to the mid-maturing group, allowing for flexible harvest planning. With a vegetation period ranging from 110 to 115 days, it successfully navigates all growth stages, demonstrating strong environmental plasticity. Key performance indicators include:

• Oil content: 48–50%, making it highly attractive for the processing industry.
• Head structure: The convex shape aids in effective moisture drainage, significantly reducing the risk of rot.
• Hybrid type: Simple, ensuring high crop uniformity and synchronized ripening.

Protection and Productivity

In modern agriculture, disease resistance is a critical factor for profitability. This hybrid features genetically ingrained immunity against some of the most dangerous sunflower pathogens: downy mildew (peronosporosis), phomopsis, and phoma. These qualities allow «Musical» to maintain high productivity even under significant infectious pressure, reducing the need for excessive fungicide applications.

Utilizing this hybrid is ideal for farms focused on consistent performance. The French breeding program by Laboulet Semences is focused on delivering predictable yields without sudden drops, making «Musical» an essential tool for crop rotation strategies in forest-steppe and steppe regions.
