SK ARTICA

The SK Artica soybean variety is an ultra-early ripening hybrid developed by Russian breeders of the company 'SOKO'. It is intended for cultivation in the northernmost soybean growing zones, where it ripens successfully without the use of desiccation. The plants are semi-determinate type, of medium height – from 42.5 to 80 cm depending on growing conditions, with the height of attachment of the lower pod being about 12-14 cm. Flowers are white, seeds are light yellow, matte, weakly pigmented, the mass of 1000 seeds is approximately 139-140 g. The vegetative period of the variety is about 105 days, which ensures early ripening and the possibility of obtaining a harvest in northern regions. SK Artica is distinguished by high resistance to lodging and pod cracking, which significantly reduces crop losses under unfavorable weather conditions and overmoisture. Resistance to lodging is rated at 9 points out of 10, and to cracking – at 8 points out of 10. The plant has gray pubescence of the main stem and triangular side leaflets of the compound leaf, which is a characteristic morphological feature of the variety. The hypocotyl lacks anthocyanin coloration, which also distinguishes this variety. The variety is characterized by high protein and fat content in seeds, which makes it attractive for use in the food and feed industries. Protein content reaches 35.7-39.1%, and fat – about 20.2-20.5%. Yield of the variety varies depending on the region and growing conditions: in the Central region it is about 18.2 c/ha, and on test plots, for example, in the Tulskaya region, it reached 36.2 c/ha. Thanks to its qualities and adaptability, SK Artica is a promising variety for northern regions with a limited vegetative period.
