Merlin soybean variety belongs to early-maturing hybrids with a vegetation period of 90 to 105 days, ensuring full maturity within relatively short periods. This variety was registered in the Catalog since 2008 and is characterized by stability and adaptability, making it suitable for cultivation in moderate climate zones with average moisture levels. Recommended sowing dates are late April or early May, when soil temperature at seed depth is not lower than +10°C.
Plants of the Merlin variety have a low stature — about 60-80 cm, with the first pod located at a height of 12-15 cm. Stems are resistant to breakage and lodging, significantly reducing yield losses. The variety is characterized by high yield, ranging from 2.5-4.0 t/ha (or 35-40 c/ha), as well as high stability of performance when agronomic requirements are met, including weed control using tank-mixed herbicide mixtures.
A distinctive feature of the variety is its high content of beneficial substances: oil content reaches 21.5%, and protein content — 39.5%. This makes Merlin attractive for producing soybean protein and oil. Additionally, the variety exhibits high resistance to drought, diseases, and lodging, contributing to the preservation of yield quality and quantity. Due to its characteristics, Merlin is well-suited for forming reliable soybean rows and is an excellent predecessor for semi-annual cereal crops.
