Description

The Frost soybean variety is a medium-early indeterminate variety with a vegetative period ranging from 111 to 115 days. Plants reach a height of 95-120 cm, with the lowest pod attached at a level of 14-16 cm. Seeds are yellow, with the 1000-seed mass varying from 146 to 175 g, indicating the variety's large fruit size. Flowers are purple, while the hypocotyl and pubescence on the main stem have a characteristic anthocyanin and gray coloration, respectively. Frost soy was developed through individual selection from a hybrid combination of Belogorskaya x Fora, with an emphasis on resistance to day length, cold, and drought. The main advantage of the Frost variety is its high resistance to low air and soil temperatures, making it particularly valuable for cultivation in regions with a cool climate. Deep penetration of the central root into the soil to a depth of 2.1–2.4 meters provides plants with enhanced drought resistance, allowing them to develop successfully even when the upper soil layers dry out. These qualities make the variety recommended for cultivation in the North Caucasus region, including Krasnodar Krai and the Rostov region. Frost soy is distinguished by high yield and quality seed indicators. The average yield in the region is about 24.8 centners/ha, while test data show yields can reach 3.4-4.4 tons/ha, with potential yields up to 50 centners/ha. The oil content of the seeds is about 22-23.6%, and protein content varies from 34.9% to 43%, making this variety attractive for the production of high-quality protein and oil raw materials. Thanks to the combination of high productivity and resistance to adverse conditions, the Frost variety is a promising choice for agricultural production.
