MR Bazley sorghum is a mid-season grain sorghum hybrid developed by Advanta Seeds, distinguished by high productivity and adaptability to various climatic conditions in steppe and forest-steppe regions. This variety exhibits excellent cold tolerance during early growth stages, drought and lodging resistance, making it a reliable choice for cultivation in southern, central, and northern regions of Ukraine, provided optimal sowing timing and density are observed. MR Bazley also demonstrates high stress resistance both before and after flowering, confirmed by stable yields even under adverse conditions and limited irrigation.
The hybrid features high starch content — up to 76% — and protein — up to 12% — making it valuable for both food industry and feed applications, including alcohol production. High tillering under favorable conditions contributes to increased yield, while disease and shattering resistance ensure yield preservation. Recommended seeding rate is 100-160 thousand seeds per hectare, and for seed storage, optimal conditions are +7-10°C temperature and humidity not exceeding 10%.
MR Bazley is well-suited for cultivation in challenging and drought-prone conditions, including double cropping and wide-row planting, enabling farmers to achieve stable and high yields. Thanks to its unique characteristics and reliability, this sorghum variety is an optimal choice for those aiming at efficient and sustainable grain crop production.
