The hybrid grain sorghum ARSKY (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench) belongs to mid-maturing varieties for food purposes and is recommended for grain production. It is included in the State Register for the North Caucasus and Lower Volga regions, confirming its adaptation to these climatic conditions. The plant is low-growing with a panicle, the grain is round, oval in profile, and orange in color. The 1000-grain weight ranges from 26.7 to 33 grams, indicating high seed density and quality.
The variety exhibits high resistance to Fusarium, as well as resistance to charcoal rot and apical sterility. Due to these characteristics, ARSKY shows good resistance to lodging and is suitable for replanting after winter cereals. The sum of active temperatures for maturity is about 1700°C, ensuring rapid germination and early maturation. The grain protein content reaches 15.3%, and starch content is approximately 76.5%, with low tannin levels, which improves the grain's nutritional quality.
The milling yield from the grain is 76.7%, making the hybrid attractive for the food industry. Additionally, ARSKY can be used in animal feed and bioenergy production, expanding its application areas. The recommended sowing rate varies from 140,000 to 270,000 seeds per hectare depending on growing conditions, with row spacing of 30-70 cm and planting depth of 2-4 cm, ensuring optimal growth and development conditions for the plant.
