The Stepoviy 8 F1 hybrid millet is an early-maturing variety specifically developed for cultivation in the steppe zone of Ukraine. The plant is low-growing, reaching about 95 cm in height, and exhibits high resistance to lodging, drought, shattering, and infection by major diseases, ensuring stable yields of 3.2 t/ha. The vegetation period lasts 118 days, allowing this hybrid to be effectively utilized under conditions of a short, warm season.
The grain of this variety is light-brown, naked, and rich in nutrients: protein — 13.4%, starch — 76.7%, lysine — 3.3%. The grain moisture at harvest is 15%, and the 1000-grain weight is 24 g. These characteristics make millet Stepoviy versatile for both food and feed applications, expanding its use in agriculture.
Millet as a crop possesses high plasticity and the ability to adapt to complex agrometeorological conditions, including saline soils and water deficiency. Its well-developed root system allows the plant to penetrate deeply into the soil and effectively withstand drought. Due to these qualities, the Stepoviy 8 F1 hybrid is a reliable choice for cultivation in the Southern Steppe of Ukraine, ensuring stable and high yields even under adverse climatic conditions.
