Kozak

Sunflower Kozak is a simple interline hybrid resistant to the herbicide tribenuron-methyl (SU) with an application rate of 50 grams per hectare. This hybrid belongs to the intensive type and is intended for cultivation using the Granstar herbicide technology. The vegetative period is 110-112 days, classifying it as a mid-early variety. Kozak has been included in the State Register of Seeds since 2019 and is successfully grown in dry steppe zones as well as in adequately moist conditions, where plants may reach a height of up to 180 cm.

Sunflower Kozak plants feature a powerful root system developing to a depth of 1.5-2 meters, ensuring high drought and heat resistance. Plant height typically ranges from 165-170 cm, with large, curved heads measuring 20-22 cm in diameter. High leafiness promotes good photosynthesis and growth. At maturity, the head becomes semi-adherent. Seeds have a 1000-seed mass of 61-62 grams, shell content of approximately 29.7%, kernel content of 21-22%, and high oil content — 48-50%.

Hybrid Kozak exhibits genetic resistance to seven aggressive races of the weed ORO 7+ / A-G+, as well as to diseases such as false powdery mildew, gray and white rot, rust, and lodging. Due to its high drought and heat tolerance, this sunflower is adapted to adverse conditions in southern regions of Ukraine, tolerating water deficit and high temperatures well. The optimal planting density at harvest time is 50-55 thousand plants per hectare in adequately moist zones and 45-50 thousand plants per hectare in drier conditions.
