The Auona lettuce represents a mid-season variety of romaine-type leaf lettuce, developed by breeders of the Dutch company Enza Zaden. The crop is intended for growing in open beds with low soil acidity and prefers sunny areas. The harvest is ready for collection 2.5-3 months after germination, and collection can be done both as whole heads and individual leaves, which provides flexibility in use and convenience for mechanized harvesting.
The leaves of Auona lettuce have a dark green color, uniform width with a firm midrib, and a characteristic bubbly structure. The head center does not yellow, and the base is well closed, which contributes to a long storage period and high resistance to internal necrosis. The leaves have a firm stem structure, which additionally increases the storage period and preserves product freshness. The average head weight is 350-420 grams, and the vertical growth of the plant facilitates harvest collection.
The variety is characterized by high resistance to bolting and tip burn, which makes it a reliable choice for cultivation from spring to autumn. Thanks to its qualities, Auona lettuce is suitable for fresh market realization, use in public catering, and processing.
