Description KWS Initiator
Winter wheat variety KWS Initiator is a high-yielding cultivar developed by German breeders of KWS SAAT SE. This medium-maturing variety features stable high yields up to 120 c/ha and is suitable for cultivation across a wide range of natural-climatic zones in the Volga and Ural regions, including areas of risky agriculture. Plants reach heights of 110 to 150 cm, with a vegetation period of 300 to 330 days, ensuring optimal crop development under high agronomic standards.

One of the key advantages of this variety is its high winter hardiness and ecological plasticity, enabling it to successfully withstand adverse winter and early spring conditions. The wheat exhibits high tillering intensity and the ability to regrow in spring, which contributes to increased productivity. Additionally, the variety demonstrates resistance to major diseases such as powdery mildew, yellow and brown rust, Fusarium head blight, snow mold, and sporides, thereby reducing yield loss risks and expanding the geographical scope of cultivation.

Technical characteristics include a thousand-grain weight ranging from 32 to 40 g and crude protein content from 9 to 11%. The optimal seeding rate is 2.0–2.5 million seeds per hectare, with the possibility of increasing to 3.0 million for silage production. Seed sowing depth is recommended at 2–3 cm. Thanks to its combination of high yield, disease resistance, and adaptability to various conditions, KWS Initiator is a reliable choice for efficient and profitable winter wheat production in risky agricultural zones.
