Description Geisha
Rosa rugosa 'Geisha' is a variety distinguished by its medium maturation period and high winter hardiness. The medium-sized plant grows quickly but requires annual crown pruning to maintain its shape and health. Thorns cover all shoots from bottom to top; they are thin, strong, and positioned perpendicularly to the shoots, ensuring good ventilation for leaves and fruiting.

The flowers are bright pink, fragrant throughout the summer, while the berries are oblate-spherical, red, and weigh up to 11.5 g. They contain over 800 mg% of vitamin C, making them a valuable source of antioxidants and supporting the immune system. The fruits have a sweet-sour taste, lack a strong aroma, yet retain a rich color.

The yield of the variety is about 5 kg of fruits per plant, and up to 109 c/ha in open fields. 'Geisha' is drought-resistant and heat-tolerant, though it may be affected by pathogens and pests; therefore, using a pollinator variety is recommended to enhance fruit quality. Due to its versatility, this rosehip is suitable for producing juice and compotes as well as for direct fresh consumption.
