Description BAKAL
Rosa canina 'Bakal' – a result of crossing the varieties 'Voroncovsky 3' and 'Voroncovsky 1', obtained at the South-Urals Institute of Fruit and Potato Breeding. The bush is of medium height, with straight, green canes bearing single thorns on the lower part. Leaves are dark green, matte, with short acute teeth.

Inflorescences are trimerous, flowers are pink. Berries are large, weighing 3.3–4.3 g, elongated, and bright red. The taste is sour-sweet and aromatic; the vitamin C content is about 2860 mg/100 g. The pedicel is thin, brownish-green.

The variety belongs to early-mid ripening and is characterized by high yield (about 36 c/ha) and good winter hardiness. It is resistant to powdery mildew, which makes it suitable for growing in various climatic conditions. The fruits are intended mainly for technical use, but their rich vitamin composition makes them valuable for both the food and pharmaceutical industries.
