DescriptionVP 1
VP 1 is a rootstock form of cherry obtained through hybridization of the common cherry variety Vladimirskaya with the clonal form VP-1 (Zolushka x Cerasus Maackii). The key advantage of this rootstock is its high rooting rate and root system winter hardiness, ensuring plant resistance to cold periods. Additionally, it demonstrates resistance to fungal diseases such as cockle and moniliosis, while maintaining good adaptability to various cherry and sour cherry varieties.
VP-1 is distinguished by its excellent ability for microclonal propagation, making it convenient for mass production. Clonal rootstocks V-2-180, V-2-230, V-5-88, and V-5-172, based on this form, have already passed testing at GNI VSIPK and received recommendations for further use in production conditions.
The collected fruits have dense pulp and good taste, while the plants demonstrate resistance to physiological disorders. Thanks to compact growth and high yield, VP-1 is suitable for both open ground and greenhouse conditions, ensuring stable fruiting throughout the season.
