Rootstock V

A Stable Foundation for Stone Fruit Orchards

When selecting the "V-U" rootstock, orchard owners prioritize predictability and reduced operational risks. This Russian rootstock for cherries and sweet cherries has proven to be a reliable base that requires minimal "emergency" interventions. The primary challenge in stone fruit cultivation—fungal infections—is mitigated here at a genetic level.

Phytosanitary Control

In intensive orchard management, working with "V-U" significantly simplifies protection protocols. You won't need to overspend on fungicides to combat the most aggressive diseases:

• Moniliosis: The rootstock shows high resistance, which is critical during the flowering period.
• Clasterosporium blight (Shot hole disease): The tree maintains the integrity of its foliage and shoots without requiring frequent chemical applications.
• Coccomycosis: High resilience prevents premature leaf fall and tree weakening before winter.

Operational Benefits

From an agrotechnical perspective, using "V-U" ensures excellent graft compatibility with cherry and sweet cherry scions. You achieve a uniform, consistent orchard where trees develop synchronously, which greatly simplifies maintenance, from pruning to harvesting. Plants on this rootstock are less sensitive to drastic temperature fluctuations, making them ideal for regions with unstable climates.

For the owner, this translates to lower labor costs for nursery culling and medical treatments. You are investing in long-term orchard durability: a tree grafted on "V-U" develops a powerful root system that efficiently supplies nutrients to the scion, ensuring stable yields for many years to come.
