Blackberry variety BP1, known under the trade name Amira®, is a remontant variety developed in 2000 at the Italian berry nursery Berry Plant. This variety was obtained by crossing the remontant variety Polka with the summer blackberry Tulamin, ensuring high productivity and stable yield. The berries are large, elongated-conical in shape, weighing up to 6.5-7 grams, making them attractive for various uses.
The harvest season for Amira® berries is relatively concentrated: about 80% of the yield is collected within four weeks. The berries have good storability and can be stored in a refrigerator for 3-4 days, allowing them to remain fresh during transport and sale. Due to its qualities, this variety is suitable for both fresh markets, IQF freezing, and processing, as well as for organic cultivation.
The BP1 Amira® variety is characterized by high stability and repeat fruiting ability, making it popular among gardeners and producers. It can be successfully grown using both conventional and organic methods, ensuring a stable and high-quality blackberry harvest with excellent taste characteristics.
