Valeska

Valeska is a type 00 winter rapeseed variety (Brassica napus var. napus) characterized by the absence of erucic acid and low glucosinolate content, making it particularly valuable for edible oil production. It is a medium-late variety with a growing season of approximately 334 days, ensuring stable maturation in the North-West region and Kaliningrad Oblast. Plants reach medium to tall heights, about 130 cm, with green leaves and yellow petals. Pods of Valeska are medium to long in size, without a beak or with a medium-length beak, facilitating mechanized harvest. Valeska yield is highly stable and exceeds regional standards: average yield is about 8.4 c/ha, reaching up to 46.8–58.3 c/ha in individual cases. Seed mass ranges from 4.2 to 5.2 g per 1000 seeds, and oil content in seeds is within 45–46.7%, indicating high quality of oilseed raw material. Seeds maintain germination for 5–6 years, which is convenient for long-term storage and subsequent sowing. Valeska rapeseed is lodging-resistant, increasing harvest efficiency and reducing losses. Valeska rapeseed is an important oilseed crop widely used to produce rapeseed oil with improved consumer properties, such as lack of unpleasant taste and greenish tint. The oil is used in the food industry, margarine production, as well as in metallurgy, soap making, leather, and textile industries. Meal obtained after oil pressing contains a significant amount of protein and fat, making it a valuable concentrated feed for livestock. Additionally, Valeska rapeseed is a nectar plant, further enhancing its agroecological value.
