Description Romeo
The Romeo sunflower hybrid, developed by a breeding institute in Serbia, is a high-yielding and stress-tolerant variety adapted for cultivation in forest-steppe and steppe regions. It features a robust root system capable of extracting moisture from soil depths up to 1.5 meters, ensuring drought resistance and stable growth even under challenging climatic conditions. Plants reach a height of 170-180 cm, with flower heads measuring 21-25 cm in diameter, slightly tilted downward, which promotes optimal seed formation.

The Romeo hybrid boasts high yield potential exceeding 4.5 tons per hectare and contains a significant oil content — from 48 to 52% — making it a valuable oilseed sunflower variety. Seeds are large, black, and elongated, with a huskiness of 21-23%. The plant demonstrates excellent adaptation to temperature conditions, germinating successfully at daily average temperatures above 12°C and developing well at temperatures ranging from 22 to 26°C, while also tolerating occasional frosts.

The hybrid's genetic resistance to several diseases, including American stem rust, Phomopsis, anthracnose, and sunflower moth, ensures reliable cultivation and minimizes crop losses. Thanks to these characteristics, Romeo is an attractive choice for farmers aiming to achieve high-quality sunflower yields under various agroclimatic conditions.
