BERING

Winter rapeseed variety Bering, developed by Zaatzbau selection, is an early-maturing variety characterized by very early flowering and ripening. This variety is especially valued for its ability to effectively utilize winter moisture, beginning to flower 2-3 days earlier than other varieties, allowing it to thrive successfully under challenging climatic conditions in the Steppe and Forest-Steppe regions of Ukraine. Yield potential reaches 60 c/ha, and oil content ranges from 46–49%, making it profitable for cultivation in terms of productivity and raw material quality.

The Bering variety exhibits high heat tolerance and drought resistance, as yield formation begins at the onset of soil and air drought periods, minimizing losses. Additionally, it demonstrates excellent regenerative capacity after wintering, ensuring stable yields even under adverse conditions. Rapeseed also shows good resistance to lodging and pod cracking, which contributes to maintaining the quality and quantity of seeds.

Bering is highly tolerant to major rapeseed diseases, including phomopsis, alternaria, sclerotinia, and powdery mildew, reducing the need for intensive chemical protection. The recommended seeding rate depends on planting dates: at optimal times (August 20-30) — 450-550 thousand seeds per hectare, at late dates (September 1-10) — 550-600 thousand seeds per hectare. This approach to planting ensures maximum productivity and adaptation of the variety to local conditions.
