Rapeseed Azurit

Focusing on Stability and Crop Health

French breeder RAGT is known for its pragmatic approach to winter oilseed rape hybrids, and "Azurite" is a prime example. In an era of unpredictable climate, this hybrid is chosen not for record-breaking results in perfect years, but for yield consistency under difficult conditions. Its genetic potential of 60–70 dt/ha requires a high level of agrotechnology, yet the hybrid is forgiving when it comes to plant protection management.

The Hybrid’s Phytosanitary Shield

The main differentiator of "Azurite" is its comprehensive disease resistance. Breeders prioritized resilience against pathogens that typically erode a farmer’s margins. The hybrid demonstrates strong resistance to:

• Phoma and Verticillium, the primary threats to the plant stems;
• Alternaria and various types of rot;
• Viral diseases, including Turnip Yellows Virus (TuYV), which is critical for early planting dates.

Special attention should be paid to its resistance against Sclerotinia (white rot). "Azurite" successfully manages to contain the infection even in high-humidity seasons, when most hybrids start to lodge prematurely.

Agronomic Recommendations

This hybrid adapts well to different sowing dates, but it performs most efficiently at a density of 500,000 to 900,000 plants per hectare. This wide range allows agronomists to adjust seeding rates based on regional conditions and soil moisture availability.

Who should choose "Azurite"? Primarily, those farms operating in high-infection zones that want to minimize the risk of crop loss from fungal diseases. It is the choice of the pragmatic producer for whom plant health is more valuable than an aggressive chase for theoretical yield metrics.
