Technical Profile of the 'Stoykiy' Radish Variety

The 'Stoykiy' variety, developed by RosNIIPTI SK and the Saratov State University of Genetics, Biotechnology and Engineering, represents a specialized breeding solution aimed at crop stability during the off-season. Its genetics focus on environmental adaptability, specifically targeting resistance to bolting during the temperature fluctuations common in both spring and autumn.

Morphological and Biological Characteristics

The root crop features a classic round shape with a distinct visual profile: deep red skin transitioning to a clean white tip. The technical parameters are optimized for commercial production:

• Growth cycle: 25 to 30 days from full germination to maturity.
• Average weight: 20–25 grams per root.
• Structural integrity: Genetically fixed round shape minimizes waste during mechanized harvesting processes.

Field Application and Agronomy

The main advantage of 'Stoykiy' lies in its balanced physiological development. By utilizing this variety, growers can establish a predictable harvest schedule. The short production cycle (under one month) allows for efficient land use in crop rotation, filling critical gaps in the early spring or late autumn market segments. The selection work conducted by V.N. Titov and R.S. Kolotanova ensures seed purity, which is vital for achieving uniform commercial batches that meet retail standards for size and aesthetic quality.
