Pumpkin TESSIN PIEROG

Engineering the Yield: The «Tёщин Пирог» Pumpkin

In developing the «Tёщин Пирог» (Mother-in-law's Pie) variety, the Gavrish breeding firm focused on creating a culture capable of efficiently converting vegetative mass into the accumulation of dry matter in the fruits. The core structural element of the plant is its unlimited vine growth, which is critical for supporting the formation of large, heavy fruits.

Biomechanics and Mass Potential

A fruit weight in the 8–10 kg range demands high transport capacity from the stem to deliver nutrients. The genotype of «Tёщин Пирог» is calibrated for active vine development, allowing the plant to handle the load without premature depletion. The round shape of the fruit optimizes the distribution of internal pressure during filling, reducing the risk of deformation during rapid growth stages.

Resource Retention: Storability as a Technical Specification

The primary operational parameter of this variety is its long-term shelf life. The dense structure of the rind and the balanced composition of the flesh ensure high storage stability, minimizing losses during warehouse storage for several months. This makes the variety a technological asset for farmers focused on delayed crop marketing.

• Plant Type: Unlimited vine growth (indeterminate).
• Stability: High fruit load capacity (8–10 kg) without quality degradation.
• Storage: Prolonged commercial shelf life due to genetically encoded tissue density.
