The hard spring wheat variety "LUCH 25" was developed at the Southern Volga Scientific Research Institute of Agriculture and registered in the State Register of Breeding Achievements since 2014. It belongs to the species Triticum durum Desf., has medium-maturity maturity periods, and is intended for cultivation in the right-bank areas of the Saratov region, including the Lower Volga region. The pedigree of the variety includes such varieties as Saratovskaya Zolotistaya and Kharkovskaya 46, which ensures its high adaptability and stability under various growing conditions.
Botanical characteristics of the variety include a white, cylindrical ear of medium length of about 5.5 cm with a density of 25-26 spikelets per 10 cm of the ear core. The plant is semi-upright, resistant to lodging, and moderately drought-resistant. The grain is elongated and light-colored, with a natural mass of about 785 g/l. The variety is characterized by high resistance to brown spot, viral infections, powdery mildew, powdery bunt and hard bunt, and is practically not susceptible to "black seed embryo".
"LUCH 25" is characterized by high yield, which on average reaches 10.7 c/ha, while maximum indicators can reach 38.6 c/ha. In terms of yield, it outperforms the variety Saratovskaya Zolotistaya by 1.3–7.0 c/ha in different years. The grain of the variety has high technological properties, in particular a high content of raw gluten (about 26%) with excellent quality, confirmed by an SDS-sedimentation indicator of 56 ml. The color of pasta products from this variety is rated at 8 points, which corresponds to a high standard of quality.
