The Arsenal soft winter wheat variety is a mid-early and mid-height semi-dwarf created through intraspecific hybridization at the Stavropol Research Institute. Plants reach a height of 71-96 cm, which is several centimeters lower than the Batiyo variety, and are distinguished by high resistance to lodging. The vegetative period ranges from 218 to 306 days, with maturation dates similar to varieties such as Don 93, Don 107, and Yermak. Arsenal belongs to the steppe, southern ecological group of wheat and is intended for sowing on fertilized non-fallow predecessors, semi-fallow, fallows, and under intensive cultivation technologies. The variety is characterized by high winter hardiness and frost resistance, as well as drought resistance at the level of the Don 93 standard. It is resistant to diseases such as brown rust, powdery mildew, and loose smut, which ensures crop stability under complex climatic conditions. The mass of 1000 grains ranges from 38 to 47 grams, and the baking qualities of the grain are good and do not lag behind the Batiyo variety, making Arsenal universal in purpose. Arsenal demonstrates high productivity: average yield in the North Caucasus region reaches 57.6 c/ha, and in the Lower Volga region — 31.9 c/ha. The variety is recommended for cultivation in the Southern zone of the Rostov region and the Right-bank zones of the Volgograd region on various soil types, including common and southern chernozems, light chestnut and brown soils. Due to the combination of resistance to adverse factors and high agronomic indicators, Arsenal is a promising choice for intensive agriculture in southern regions of Russia.
